We have all heard the saying that goes ” actions speak louder than words”. That is a saying that gets repeated so often that in many ways it has lost it’s meaning. There are words that convey actions but those can be hollow. Actions on the other had can say more about a person than every word ever written. The thing is there is this notion that actions have to be some big grand act when in reality it’s the small actions that can have the most meaning. You see when we are interacting with someone there is one true fact. That fact is that we really have no idea what someone truly is dealing with in their lives? Not one person on this planet has the same DNA or life experiences. One of the truly sad things that has happened is that often members of the opposite sex are afraid to reach out a helping hand in fear that they may be accused of something! That is so sad and it’s only getting worse. So people are forced to pause a second to calculate if their actions could be misconstrued? Actions can have unexpected consequences but taking that risk may be just the help that person needs.
For those who don’t know this is not my first blog. The first one lasted over a decade and frankly it had gotten massive in nature and had too many bad memories. Then yesterday I saw a blog post from a blogger that I first started reading over a decade ago. Then this morning I saw another one. Old blog friends are truly like a warm blanket on a cold winters night.
As a light rain falls so ever so gently on this July morning it symbols that the start of my day will not go as planned. That yard work I had planned to get done this morning will have to get done another day. These things happen in life because the one certainty in life is change. This is nothing like the news I received last week. I was informed that my days of climbing on roofs and doing outside remodeling are pretty much over! For me to continue to do these things just puts my health at great risk and it’s simply not worth that risk. So the thing is what can I do at this later stage in life? I simply don’t have that answer and I suspect I won’t for some time.
If the founding fathers came back today it’s fascinating to ponder what they would think?
I think the first thing that would surprise them is the size and magnitude of the central government. Along with the fact that people have turned their positions in Congress into lengthy careers. That was never their intent. They wanted people to come serve for a few years and then go back home! You see nowhere in the constitution are political parties mentioned. There was however the understanding that people with the same kinds of thoughts would get together.
Another thing that would surprise them how states rights have been ran over. The 10th amendment of the United States Constitution basically says that any power that is not given to the federal government is given to the people or the states. Being a states rights person this is a big one for me. The less centralized national government the better.
There is a saying that goes ” the two most misinterpreted things in the world are the United States Constitution and the Holy Bible”. I hear say things about what they think the constitution says and wonder where they got that from?
