People often talk about walking is someone else’s like they truly understand. They don’t because they can’t know all the finer things that make another person tick.
Take me for example. If you would see me ( the reason people don’t is because there are very few pictures of me) they could easily come to the conclusion that my life is relatively mundane and they would be nowhere close to the truth. The reality is my life is an extremely complicated place on many levels. It’s really serious stuff all day every day and that’s ok. Sure it would be nice sometimes to take my foot off the gas of my life. The thing is it’s just not possible and part of growing old is that you learn to accept things that you may not like. The alternative is so horrendous because my life would get shattered into about 10 billion pieces.
So be careful about walking in someone else’s shoes because you have no idea as to what is really going on in their lives.
The preamble to the the United States Constitution says the following. We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
Here is the rub that nobody really talks about. The ” We” they were talking about was themselves and for good reason. These white men had committed treason against the most powerful country in the world. When they left their homes many expected to never return home unless it was in a pine box. It is really unfortunate in today’s toxic political environment that the word treason gets mention like its no big deal. Treason is the most terrible act a person can be charged with in regards to acts against one’s country. It is a wrong to accuse people of commiting treason with serious thought and deliberation. So ” We The People” probably wasn’t talking about you but that doesn’t mean we can’t strive to achieve a broader meaning of the word “We”.
